ICIU's Executive Director, Michele Soria, and other staff members lead trainings throughout the state of Iowa for many different organizations. Examples include the law firm of Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts PC, MidAmerican Energy, West Des Moines Community Schools, and Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Based on the feedback ICIU has received from these clients and many others, the training that ICIU offers is filling a void for organizations of all types. Many organizational leaders are recognizing the need to expose employees to the concepts of diversity and working across cultures and looking for ways to help them to put those concepts into practice on a daily basis. ICIU's Cultural Competence Training can do just that.

Cultural Connections: A Series of Workshops from ICIU

Drawing on more than 60 years of experience in building bridges between cultures, the Iowa Council for International Understanding (ICIU) presents a workshop series with new opportunities for improving cultural understanding in the workplace and community.  ICIU has prepared this series of five workshops to equip participants with skills that will allow them to take action and go beyond awareness.  The workshops will be focused on several pertinent issues related to cultural competence and how to foster impacting change.  

Those signing up for more than one workshop will receive 10% off the registration fee.  Those affiliated with a non-profit (includes government agencies) can attend one workshop at a 20% reduced rate and receive an additional discount by signing up for more than one workshop.  For more information or to sign up, please download the series brochure by clicking HERE.
