The Iowa Council for International Understanding, with support from the United Way of Central Iowa, provides Emergency Interpretation Services at no charge. The emergency service is provided to medical and law enforcement personnel serving limited English proficient clients faced with life and death situations. This 24 hour, 7 day a week service fills a community need through the generosity of interpreters who volunteer their time.  For Emergency Interpretation Services, please call 515-282-8269, x 16 and listen to the voicemail for the emergency contact number.  Please note that we will do everything possible to fulfill the requests made, but the service is dependent upon the availability of an interpreter.  When possible, the interpreter will be made available by telephone.
