The Iowa Student Global Leadership Conference (ISGLC) is an annual conference that brings 100 Iowa youth and international exchange students studying in Iowa high schools together for a leadership institute in Des Moines. The focus of the conference is to examine key global issues that will have impact on the world in the future. Participating Iowa students work in partnership with international students to recommend actions and solutions for the future, and to discuss ways youth can address issues of concern in their countries. This year's conference will be held February 5-6, 2010.

            

Who is invited: International exchange students at high schools in Iowa and the high school friends they invite.
Where is it located: Quality Inn & Suites 929 Third Street, Des Moines, IA
When is held: Friday and Saturday, February 5-6, 2010
What is the cost: $40 per student.This will cover meals, entertainment, materials, and shared hotel room. Bus/van transportation MAY also be available.

What do I need to attend ISGLC?

  • Get permission from your host family
  • A high school friend who has an interest in global issues may be invited to attend with you. Talk to your international exchange agency representative if you would like to bring a friend.
  • Complete and return yours and your high school friend’s application form no later than November 30, 2009, to your ex-change agency representative.
  • Please include your application fee of $40 per student. Note that both the ex-change student and high school friends need to make payments of $40 each. Make checks payable to ICIU.
